It would not be wrong to say that every human on this planet has suffered hair fall at some point in their life. Hair growth and loss is an ongoing cycle, and on an average around 10 percent of your hair is in shedding or growing phase all the time. Losing hair is a natural process, but the alarm rings when it leads to thinning or balding. And with hair transplant clinics in Delhi, Mumbai and many other cities on the rise, it is the time we equip ourselves with the right information.

Before we begin to understand the different stages of hair loss, let’s first get to know the hair growth cycle.

Hair Growth Cycle

The hair growth pattern for almost everyone is divided into three phases:

  • Anagen: The first phase of hair growth, anagen is the most active time when the cells present beneath the hair follicles multiply rapidly, eventually generating hair bulbs. These bulbs then produce new hair fibre, pushing the follicle up, ultimately emerging out of the scalp.
  • Catagen: This is the resting phase wherein the hair is not growing anymore but is still attached to the follicle. As the cell division activity has stopped during this phase, it eventually leads to degeneration of keratinocyte in the bulbs.
  • Telogen: After the catagen phase the bulb reaches the end of the epidermis and the hair strand falls out while brushing or washing. The telogen phase is inevitable for every strand of hair.

Once the hair falls out, the bulb retracts, becoming ready to begin with the anagen phase. The problem arises when too many hair fall during the telogen phase, which leads people to look for the best hair loss treatment in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, etc., where many established doctors have successfully solved such problem.

Stages of Hair Loss

Hair transplant in India is a sought-after treatment opted by many people today. As hair fall and discussions about it are becoming more common, people are seeking treatment before they lose all their hair. But, when is a good time to see a hair specialist or surgeon?

Hair Dye and Chemicals

Hair loss goes through 7 phases, and knowing a bit about them will help you seek medical help at the right time.

  • Minimal hair loss which looks natural (losing 50-100 strands of hair every day is common).
  • Hair loss at the temples which looks insignificant.
  • Thinning hair on the vertex and receding hairlines.
  • There is a larger pattern on the vertex and hairline now.
  • Although a thin division line exists, patterns at both sites are bigger than before.
  • The thin division is gone, leaving behind several strands of short fine hair.
  • Very little hair exists on the front or top of the head.

Be it hair growth or hair loss, changes vary from person to person, therefore it is important to consult an expert as soon as you face an alarming situation.
